Gavigan Gate

Gavigan Gate is a 2x2 apartment complex with great views of the pier or the metro. It is named after the Gavigan family for their intensive lot testing work and dedication.

The apartment is perfect for young families starting out as all the units are somewhat affordable.

There are four two bedroom apartment units, each decorated in a similar yet distinct style. There is an on site rental office that serves coffee and holds the area vending machines.

Each unit also has two bathrooms to end those early morning squabbles over the shower.

The highlight of the complex is the interior courtyard and landscaping

along with the semi-spacious floor plans.

Bringing Home Baby Hapar 2008

Hapar, spring, 2008

"Ray!" Lydia called from the living area in pain.

"It's time."

Sixteen hours, four decelerated heart rates and one emergency Cesarean section later, the couple welcomed their twins to the family.

"They are beautiful, Lydia."

"They are."

"Welcome to the world, Ari and Ava."

Welcome Ari and Ava Wilsonoff. Ari is named after one of the original Kents-which Ray descended from. Ari's twin sister was Ada, so I thought the boy/girl name combo of Ari/Ava was close enough.

PS. I just noticed that I have a few more followers-welcome! It's so exciting to get new followers and commenters, since I usually get to discover new blogs that way.

Bedding a Random, 2008

Hapar, spring, 2008

Faith is 24, Olivia is 2, Vivienne is 1. Walt Jones is 25

The Christmas decorations were still up, but to be honest, the cheap paper cut-outs were one of the few decor items in the cramped apartment.

"Rounds" and ROS Simyear 2008-2009

For those who have been following Apple Valley for a while, you may realize that time moves so slowly :) It's killing me as well watching other bloggers zip through their generations while mine seem stuck. To make time move a bit faster, but not too much faster, which was the whole reason of blogging in this new style, I'm switching to 2-year rounds, but non-rounds :P

I'm splitting my families to be rotated every two simyears, but we'll see from them each simyear via other families updates and a few mini-updates thrown in for good measure. It's a work in progress, so we'll see how much I like it and how long it stays around.

ROS for the 2008-2009 rotation

  • Re-roll your turn-ons, eeek, hope you still like your partner!...This sound be interesting
  • Mid-Life Crisis: Change your aspiration and lifetime want! It makes perfect sense for this sim since they are approaching "mid-life"
  • Fire! Not the best, I just redecorated :(
  • Signed modeling deal, $12000 bonus This family needs the money and it evokes some of their past modeling  as well.

Officer of the Year
Hood Council Elections
Lawyer Reaches the Top
Student Returns from Kimikura

Officer of The Year

Jadhira Shazad
Every simyear the AVPD selects an officer of the year. Local officers and workers donate simoleans towards the grand prize and the announcement is anticipated with great joy. This simyear, Detective Tobi Sweeny was selected as Officer of the Year and awarded §7000 regarding his quick investigation of the fires of simyear 2006.

"It feels amazing," Tobi Sweeny said of his win. "The money was of course very nice, but I am honored with the prestige that came along with the prize. I've been with the department for a long time and being a police officer has been my dream since I was a child. To be awarded such a honor is wonderful."

Congratulations Detective Tobi Sweeny
Hood Council Elections

Jadhira Shazad

The time is now if you want to put forth your name as a candidate for the 2008 hood council elections. Please be sure to carefully read over the requirements and submit your name to Fiona Kent at the administration building.

Lawyer Reaches the Top

Jadhira Shazad

Very rarely in a sim's life are they able to reach the pinnacle of their career, but our very own Fiona Kent did just that. She not only manages the hood council, but she is a formidable force at Stern & Clerks where she was just named partner at the firm.

"She is the law essentially!" File clerk, Nailah Harris said. "Criminals tremble in her presence and she has to dispense judgement with a firm but fair hand."

Student Returns from Kimikura

Jadhira Shazad

S'Ahmisa Warwick, a junior at Pierce University, has returned from her study aboard trip to Kimikura.

"Kimikura is my second home," S'Ahmisa said. "I lived there before and it was a joy returning to a familiar place."

Ms.Warwick was able to study due to the unique partnership with Pierce University and Kimikura University.

"We hope in the future to develop partnerships with other schools," Educational Director, Johan Shazad, stated. "We are working now with Pahala Shore University to form an alliance so students have more choices in their study aboard experiences."

Culinary Corner

Jolie Dawson

Welcome to Culinary Corner! This simday's topic is all about cheesecake. Cheesecake is a wonderful dessert with it's rich creamy center and gooey fruit topping. Did you know that cheesecake is rumored to induce twins? Strange, but many sims swear by it and avoid cheesecake during their pregnancy, or indulge in it depending on what they desire.
Happy Eating!

With Benefits, 2007

Peacar, winter, 2007

Tobi is 35; Aaron and Simora are 8; Matt is 4

Once Cameron moved out, Tobi found it hard to maintain the townhouse on his salary so the family was forced to move. The good news is that shortly before the move, Tobi won the Officer of the Year Award at the department and a $7000 prize to go with it.

Start Over, 2007

Peacar, winter, 2007

Jesse is 41, Fiona is 38, Veronika is 9, Jessica and Jennifer are 4, Jeremy is 2

Late last simyear, the Kent family lost their home in an electrical fire. The family was safe but everything was loss in the fire and they had to start over. Veronika was the most upset in the family considering several of her pieces that she prepared for her show were in the house and destroyed. She was slowly working on new pieces and excited that sims from all over the simworld were talking about her work.

Education in Apple Valley, Part 4.5

What and Why
A while back, I decided to do a series on how education in Apple Valley works, especially with the forthcoming changes. I explored education from elementary school to obtaining an advanced degree as I wanted to move away from excessive skilling in my game and focus more on character development. The changes served two purposes, one, it allowed me to hone in on each sim's individual personality and preferences, two, it prevented excessive success. Right now, most sims are able to obtain a level 7 job without any trouble aside from making friends. This left very little room for variety in the game and most sims were financially well off. To ensure that I stayed focused on this, I decided to try and do away with most toddler skills-instead focusing on teaching them how to walk, talk, etc.

The primary ways of educating the sims in all levels of education are skills, hobbies and interests. I often refer to skills as scores on "skill exams" (the number of skill points they have in a certain skill) or "core skill evaluation"-CSE (the number of total skills they have). Hobbies and interests will also be referred to in a similar manner. Now that the background is out of the way, let's move on.

Master's Degree
Today, we're discussing obtaining a master's degree. In the original series, I didn't include a master's degree as I didn't want to have too many levels to keep up with. However looking at Heredon Cove's notes and the careers, I noticed that some careers needed more than a bachelor's, but significantly less than an advanced degree (modeled after a PhD).

"Jacob, what are you-oh!"

Never, Sweetie 2007

Givar, winter, 2007

Ray and Lydia Wilsonoff are 38, Alia Shae Wilsonoff is 3.

It was a simple request...or demand, however you would like to word it.

"I hate it here, we need to move."
